What means to be a professional gambler?
What I do is different than what most gamblers do. I analyze the market and the game to find value bets. Then I try to make money with the variation of the bet’s value, the so-called trading.
Do you bet only on soccer or do you use to be on other sports as well?
I had bet on all sports that you can imagine, but soon I realized that it was in soccer where I got the best results. At the beginning of my work, I worked in many many games. I even bet on the Finnish championship!
After that, I chosen to specialize in English and Spanish leagues.
How do you choose the games you want to analyze?
I begin with a detailed analysis of all the games that I can do based on some criteria, particularly the liquidity of the betting market of each game. A game with Barcelona or Real Madrid has more people watching and betting than a game with Getafe.
Another criterion is to see if the game is balanced or not. It may interest me more a balanced game between teams from the middle positions of the classification table than a game where Barcelona receives the last ranked team.
Do you feel more responsibility when you have more money involved?
There was a time when it did, particularly when I decided to drop everything and became a full time betting trader. It was not easy to justify myself to my family. Currently, I do not feel any pressure. And this is for one reason only: I know what it is to have nothing and I realized that money alone does not bring happiness.
When did you realize that you could earn money from betting?
When I bet 50 euros and had regular profit of 5 euro. It may seem little, but I looked at that value not as 5 euro, but as 10 percent. And that’s a lot.
What then is your favorite team?
Atletico Madrid, without any doubt, because, historically, is a manic-depressive team. Varies very rapidly between euphoria and despair between seasons, between matches and even during play. Atletico Madrid can be winning at home against the last ranked team and concedes a draw, as well can win against Barcelona after having been losing 3-0.
If you could bet on a Portuguese champion for the next season, what would be your bet?
At the first sight, it would be on Porto, since it is the favorite. But that depends on the prize offered by its victory.
